Conservation works were undertaken to the original mid-nineteenth-century timber windows and doors within the State Heritage-listed Petersham Railway Station building, Sydney NSW 2049.

Project Duration: 22 April 2024 to 14 June 2024 (8 Weeks)
Project Scope:
- Conservation of more than 60 original timber windows and doors, including double-hung sash windows, awning windows, casement windows, and single and double timber doors.
- Repair Care epoxy used for replacement cills, major timber repairs, splicing and long-term preservation of significant heritage fabric.
- Stabilisation and conservation of vulnerable timber joints, including bottom rail and stile junctions and cill-to-frame connections.
- Replacement of deteriorated glazing with matching like-for-like clear and patterned heritage glass.
- Full overhaul of all windows, including replacement sash cords, parting beads and staff/stop beads.
- Installation of weather and draught seals to improve performance while maintaining heritage values.
- Conservation and overhaul of original window and door hardware.
- Installation of replica heritage hardware where original components were missing or beyond repair.
